As the mid-year draws nearer, I have been trying to get my students prepared for their midterm in the funnest way possible. I know by the time students get to me (5th and 6th hours) they are tired of the answering questions on worksheets and then going over the answers for they review. Before break, I decided to have my students create comic strips where they actually had to include the concepts that they have learned so far in the year. Many students took off with this idea and created very creative comics where they took an alien on a tour to explain how to find density, or pretended to lose their memory and had to relearn everything for their upcoming tests. I was impressed with my students because when they didn’t remember how to do something, they asked a neighbor or checked their notes.
This project was a GREAT and FUN way to have the students show what they know and review basic concepts. To help you create your own comic book assignment, check out the rubric I had created below.
