Introducing SOAR: Theory for Growth

July 7, 2024

I’ve been in and out of therapy since high school. I started reading personal development books (Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul, anyone?) in my pre-teens. It is safe to say that personal growth, being a generational trauma breaker, and inspiration for others were made for me.

After years of personal growth and development, I am excited to share my theory for transformation and growth. SOAR was born from my love for Phoenixes (I even have a tattoo!). I am obsessed with the idea that phoenixes are literally born from their ashes. Their transformation is powerful and a great representation of life’s ups and downs. Our lows can get us down, but our highs and rebirths can see us soaring high in the sky.

In order to SOAR, you must have self-awareness, an open mind, alignment, and daily reflection.

Questions to Ask Yourself to Help You SOAR

S = Am I aware of how my actions are in alignment with my most authentic self? Am I taking accountability for my actions? Am I aware of my emotions and where they are coming from and taking action to pull myself back into alignment?

O = Do I have a growth mindset? Am I willing to look at experiences from multiple perspectives? Am I open to change?

A = Are my actions in alignment with my most authentic self?

R = Am I practicing daily gratitude? Do I use critical thinking skills to examine my experiences, ideas, and thoughts?
